How does the Turbine Series Fuel Filter work?

The Turbine Series from Racor boasts a three-stage filtration mechanism, ensuring efficient removal of water and particulates from fuel. Let’s go through the three-stage filtration here:

1.

Fuel Separation: Upon entry, it passes the internal check valve, proceeding into the turbine centrifuge where it spirals, removing sizable particulates and water droplets. Due to their weight relative to fuel, they descend to the bowl's base.

2.

Coalescence: Tiny water droplets gather alongside and on the interior parts, including the Aquabloc® filter's outer layer. Once sizable, they also descend into the spacious bowl for drainage as required.

3.

Filtering: In addition to repelling water, asphaltenes, algae, rust, and minute particles from fuel. Aquabloc® filters are water-resistant, thus sustaining effectiveness for extended periods, resulting in cost savings.

Upgrade with Ease: Electric Primer Pump Kit

Retrofit Racor's electric primer pump kit to numerous Racor 900 or 1000 Turbine Series fuel filters/water separators already in operation. This system comprises a 100-micron pre-screen filter, a flow bypass circuit, and an inventive roller cell pump driven by a 12 or 24 VDC Racor brushless motor.

Activation of the switch draws fuel into the pre-screen, then pumps it through the housing, replenishing the unit with fresh, clean, dry fuel. During periods of inactivity, the filter pump system is bypassed, allowing the Racor fuel filter/water separator to operate normally.

The complete primer pump kit includes a wiring harness and controller switch.

The compact assembly measures just 3.3 inches (8.4 cm) tall and can be effortlessly retrofitted onto a 900 or 1000 series filter. In Racor duplex or triplex filter setups, only one primer pump is necessary.

What is Aquabloc®?

All Racor marine fuel filter water separators incorporate Racor's exclusive Aquabloc® filtration elements. Aquabloc® features a unique engineered design with pleat-spacing corrugations and a graduated pore structure, enhancing dirt-holding capacity and prolonging filter lifespan. This waterproof and rustproof media efficiently captures contaminants, while its specially treated surface facilitates water separation and coalescence from the fuel. Resultantly, water gathers into large droplets, which then descend into the clear collection bowl. Aquabloc® elements are available in three different ratings:

30 micron (98%@30 micron):  Ideally utilized as a pre-filter to safeguard downstream filters from excessive contamination, thus extending the lifespan of the entire fuel system.

10 micron (98%@10 micron): Offers enhanced contaminant capture compared to 30 micron elements and provides superior water-blocking capabilities, thereby prolonging the entire fuel system's longevity.

“2” micron (98%4 microns): Delivers optimal water removal and filtration, ensuring comprehensive protection for all modern injection systems and significantly extending the service life of challenging-to-access on-engine filters.
