The LU240 can accurately measure levels in a range of storage-type vessels, simple process vessels with some surface agitation, liquids, slurries, bulk solids, and open channels, with measurement capabilities up to 12 meters (40 feet). It provides unmatched reliability through features such as Process Intelligence and Auto False Echo Suppression, achieving an accuracy of 0.15% of range or 6 mm (0.25 inches) for the 6 m and 12 m models. Additionally, pre-defined vessel shapes allow for the conversion of level measurements to volume, while volume flow can be measured in open channel systems like Parshall flumes or V-notch weirs using integral pre-defined flow structures. For vessels not covered by pre-defined shapes, a customized level-to-output linearization function is available. Connecting the SITRANS Probe LU240

When connecting the SITRANS Probe LU240, it's essential to follow proper wiring practices to ensure reliable operation. Begin by using shielded, twisted pair cables, selecting wire gauges between AWG 22 and AWG 14 (0.34 mm² to 2.08 mm²) to minimize signal interference. Adhering to standard instrumentation wiring practices may require separate cables and conduits, so ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes. If routing the cable through conduit, only use approved hubs designed for waterproof applications. Since the non-metallic enclosure does not provide a continuous ground path, grounding-type bushings and jumpers should be employed. To make the connection, first remove the device lid, then strip approximately 70 mm (2.75 inches) from the cable jacket and thread the wires through the gland. Connect the wires to the terminal block, ensuring proper polarity, and tighten the gland for a secure seal. If using an optional display, connect its female end to the male four-pin connector and secure it in the enclosure before replacing the device lid.
