The SMART BILGE is made up of 2 key components, the SMART BILGE ‘Module’ and the SMART ‘CELL’ measuring cell.
A replacement calibrated measuring cell is available here and is easily changed on board of the vessel and the calibration verification kits enable the crew to demonstrate that the monitor is within factory calibration to PSC Surveyors.
Moreover, a manual cell cleaning device is included as a standard when you buy the Smart Bilge Alarm, so you easily can uphold the routine maintenance.
Optical cell fouling is seen as a leading cause when the monitor malfunction or has incorrect readings. However, when operating and using the manual cleaning device, the “Smart Cell” remains in optimal operating conditions.

A 15ppm Bilge Alarm is normally used in connection to a ship's oil filtering equipment (also known as "bilge water separator"), monitoring the oil content of the separated/filtered water and stopping the discharge into the sea if the oil content exceeds 15ppm (parts per million).
The 15 ppm bilge alarm type "BilgMon 488" is type approved for this purpose according to the IMO Rules MEPC.107(49).
Furthermore, the 15ppm bilge alarm can in principle be used as a simple oil content alarm for other applications where the water does not contain solids or other substances disturbing the operation.
