The OMD-24 Series Bilge Alarm Units are specifically designed for use with 15 ppm oil-water separator units. Their specification and performance exceed the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards for 15 ppm Bilge Alarms as per Resolution MEPC.107 (49).
The OMD-24 Bilge Alarm Unit is engineered for integration with 15 ppm oil-water separator units, surpassing the International Maritime Organization’s standards for 15ppm Bilge Alarms as per Resolution MEPC. 107 (49).
It comes with two factory-set alarms at 15 ppm, with adjustable set points (10 ppm or 5 ppm) configurable on-site via the front panel buttons. If the alarm threshold is exceeded, indicators on the front panel activate, and corresponding relays are triggered.
In the event of a malfunction, the System LED on the front panel shifts from blinking green to solid red. For data logging, the unit requires a status input from the separator.
Additionally, an optional 0(4) - 20 mA output (equivalent to 0 - 30 ppm) is available for connecting to a recorder or external meter.
Adjustable Alarms
Each unit comes with two factory-set alarms at 15 ppm. However, set points from 1 ppm to 15 ppm can be adjusted on-site at any time using the front panel buttons. If an alarm set point is exceeded, the alarms are visible on the front panel and the appropriate relays are triggered.
In case of a malfunction, the "SYS LED" on the front panel changes from blinking green to solid red. For data logging, the unit requires a status input from the separator. A 0(4) - 20 mA signal output (equivalent to 0 - 30 ppm) is available for connecting to a recorder or external meter.

Additional Features
By request, the OMD-24 Series can be configured with a 5 ppm alarm set point. Instrument versions with a Measuring Cell Cleaning Unit or an Automatic Cell Cleaning Device are also available.
The OMD-24 Series generally includes a Computer Unit, a Measuring Cell, and additional equipment (such as Valve Assembly, Electrical Valve, Flow Control, and Automatic Cell Cleaning Device).
The Computer Unit houses the display PCB, data logger, and terminals for external connections.
The Measuring Cell is constructed from anodized all-aluminum with stainless steel inlet and outlet blocks, containing optics and electronics connected to the Computer Unit via a data cable.
The Measuring Cell, which should be mounted vertically, is attached to a valve support that also holds the valve assembly. Sample and clean water usage are controlled by an electric Switchover Valve, connected to the measuring cell by a push-in connector.
The OMD-24 units can be wall-mounted or installed on a bulkhead. If space is limited, the Computer Unit can be separated from the Measuring Cell with an optional connection cable allowing up to 5 meters of distance. The OMD-24 Series should be located as close to the oily water separator as possible to minimize response delays. According to MEPC.107(49), the overall response time, including the 15 ppm Bilge Alarm’s response time of less than 5 seconds, and the operation of the Automatic Stopping Device, should not exceed 20 seconds.
Mounting and Connections
Mount the OMD-24 Series instruments using M6 or M8 screws on a rigid vertical surface or frame, with the display panel positioned conveniently. Ensure sufficient space for service and maintenance. When connecting pipes, avoid torsion and potential damage to the instrument. For separator discharge pipes up to 75 mm OD, a standard "T"-type junction is satisfactory for the tapping point. For larger pipes, a sample probe should protrude into the discharge piping by approximately 25% of the pipe's ID. Electrical connections are made through metric cable gland openings prepared underneath the instrument.
Electrical Installation
Connect the units to the mains supply via a suitable rated and approved fused isolator unless such fusing/isolation is provided by associated equipment. The isolator should be close, easily accessible, and clearly marked. Ensure the terminal cover is closed completely after installation to prevent water and humidity from entering the instrument, which could cause corrosion and malfunction.
