The flow-captor smart meter 4115.30 smx is an advanced flow meter designed specifically for very large pipe diameters, supporting measurements for pipes up to 24" (600 mm).  It is also available in a version for measuring oil-based media (4115.30 smx S115).

Operational principle of the flow-captor sensor

Employing a calorimetric principle, the Smart Meter 4115.30 smx utilizes a sensor head containing two PT-resistors. One resistor measures the temperature of the media, while the other is heated by an attached resistor. This setup creates a predetermined temperature difference, which a control circuit ensures remains constant.

As the media flows, it cools the heated resistor proportionally to the flow speed. The control circuit adjusts the heating power to maintain the temperature difference, resulting in a linear output signal directly proportional to the flow speed.

Flexible installation and depth adjustment

The depth of immersion for the flow-captor can be easily adjusted without limitations. To achieve this, the sensor is effortlessly screwed into the current flange or nipple and then adjusted a few steps to reach the optimal immersion depth.
